Short Business Visits

The Business (Short Stay) visa - subclass 456 - allows a business person to make a short visit of up to three months to Australia to conduct business-related activities (eg undertake training, sign contracts, attend meetings). A single entry or multiple entry visa may be issued.

Long Stay Visa for Employment in Australia

A Business (Long Stay) visa - subclass 457 - is valid for between 3 months and 4 years. This is the most common work visa that enables a business to sponsor skilled personnel from overseas to work in Australia for up to 4 years.

Permanent Residence Visas - Employer Sponsored

There are 4 categories of Permanent Visas under the Employer Sponsored Program:

1. Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS)
2. Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS)
3. Labour Agreements (LA)
4. Invest Australia Supported Skills (IASS) Program

The first three programs enable Australian employers to recruit highly skilled workers, either from overseas or from people temporarily in Australia, where an employer has been unable to fill their recruitment needs from the Australian labour market or through their own training efforts.

The 4th program (IASS) enables employers (who have an approved IASS agreement) to transfer key managerial and specialist employees of their company to Australia.
