A new single, consolidated occupation list – the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) – has been released. It will apply to:

• the Core Skills stream of the SID visa AND
• the Direct Entry stream of the permanent Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186) visa

If you were planning to lodge a 482 visa application before the new visa comes into effect, your window to do so closes on 7 December 2024. This is especially crucial for applicants in occupations potentially impacted by the new CSOL.

Your should:

• Verify your occupation's status on the new CSOL immediately.
• Consult a registered migration agent or immigration lawyer who can provide personalised advice based on your specific circumstances.
  
• Review your current visa application and ensure all supporting documents are comprehensive and accurate.

The government has indicated that more details about the SID visa and the National Innovation visa will be announced shortly, so stay tuned. Though still to be implemented, other new visa requirements may differ significantly from the existing 482 visa.
